The intelligence layer that powers every Catalyst interaction. Uses a dual-scoring system -- behavioral scores (based on individual traveler patterns and history) and situational scores (based on real-time booking context) -- to dynamically determine which messages appear, when, and with what urgency for each traveler. Evaluates every booking scenario against active tactics, weighs competing messages, and surfaces the highest-impact guidance. This is what makes Catalyst intelligent rather than rule-based: the engine doesn't just check if a policy applies -- it calculates the optimal intervention for that specific traveler at that specific moment.
How It Works
The engine runs two parallel scoring calculations for every booking interaction:
Behavioral Score looks backward -- what has this traveler done before? Do they book late? Do they avoid preferred suppliers? Have they responded to previous guidance? This creates a profile that determines the baseline approach.
Situational Score looks at the current moment -- what's happening in this specific booking? Is there a preferred hotel available? Is the lead time within policy? Are there sustainability alternatives? This determines which tactics are relevant right now.
The two scores combine to select the right message, with the right urgency, for the right traveler, at the right time. A first-time traveler to a new city gets educational content. A repeat late-booker gets escalating guidance with peer comparison data. A compliant traveler gets positive reinforcement.
